But if Army is relaxed much more will cross over from the other side of L.O.C. and how many of those pelting stones will not crossover for mujahedeen training if given a clear passage. There has not been a Militancy worth to mention in this century because the Armed Forces have given their blood and sweat to make that happen. It is not as if the Separatists had a change of heart after watching a Bollywood movie like “Lage Raho Munnabhai”.

Myth 2: Kashmiris are hostile to Indians

May be the editors of this portal were not born before the 1989’s, the suspicion on Kashmiris has been of their own doing, I don’t need to disguise as a Kashmiri as I am one, not only in house hunt but in passports etc, we have to face difficulties because some of our brothers took inspiration from Videos and Speeches from across the border and decided to become the ‘Mujahedeen’- just because Kashmir was muslim majority and India is hindu majority and also because of the racist fact that you mentioned- the looks.
“Not all snakes are poisonous but even if one is we tend to suspect every snake.”
Where was this Indian hostility towards Kashmiris when a different kind of shooting used to take place in Kashmir. There is a cause and effect situation, someone arouses religious passions and makes them become Mujahedeen, and when Military is sent and clashes are there you say Military is killing people.

Myth 3: The alienation of Kashmiris is their own doing, fueled by Pakistan

Was this Azadi movement started because of atrocities of Military ? This was started at the behest of Pakistan (Benazir Video),( Benazir's father).
If Indians were so harsh on Kashmiris why didn’t people from Minority take up gun? Whatever has happened after the Rise of Militancy , is direct result of the Azadi Movement. A clear strategy of Pakistan, once the conflict will be there, it will result in bloody clashes leading to further alienation. Instead of bridging the gaps your portal is fueling the fires and it needs to be found out who is the real force running this portal.

Myth 4: Kashmir is headed for Talibanisation

Symptoms of Talibanisation:
1. Shooting the girls legs if they wear jeans.
2. Cutting of ear and nose of locals who help police.
3. Genocide of Minorities.
4. Changing the names of Anantnag to Islamabad, Hari Parbat to Suleman, numerous Sanskrit names of places and names to Arabic names.
It seems you are justifying all this as if Islam justifies all this and the Minorities have no right to speech and life there(thus creating islamophobis). You are being just Apologist.

Myth 5: Geelani being the main leader means Kashmiris are for Pakistan

Yes this is a Myth and thanks for busting it because all Kashmiris are not for Pakistan. Most are for India, even though most will curse India but that’s just because of the hard handedness of Military and from inside they know India is the better future. And to keep it like this people like Geelani make sure there are more clashes and more events leading to mishaps because of Armed Forces and more alienation and here again your portal seems to be working for the same.

Myth 6: The interlocutors will solve the problem

I think this was just added to make the even number of 10, there is no one in right mind except the Congresswalas who think interlocutors are of some help.

Myth 7: With so much of central funds going in, Kashmiris are one pampered lot

Just check the tax returns for the state and the ones who are living and posh houses, you will be surprised to find supposedly anti-establishment, azadi leaders in the list.

Myth 8: The Indian media gave adequate coverage to the 2010 unrest

Yes, no body showed the real thing, because no one knew what happened except those who were coordinating these events. A planned process to fuel more unrest and get more people killed and create more alienation.

Myth 9: Tourism figures prove Kashmir is peaceful

As you say it’s contradictory to 1, same goes for you, you can bust only one at a time. The way you talk about Indian Tourist is like being Apologist again, Kashmiris will certainly slap you if talk about tourist like that.

Myth 10: Aren't the remaining Kashmiri Pandits a hapless lot

Give it some years, Kashmiri Pandits will be a myth in themself…But we struggle to survive despite the best efforts of those who have right to kill...

Arundhati Roy... Help me in History !

Arundhati Roy has lately been asserting her historical fact that Kashmir was historically never part of India.

It makes me doubt her reading skills even though she might be a good writer. As far as my historical knowledge goes there were three empires that are credited with being largely the India as we see it today.

The first one that comes to my mind is Ashoka's Mauryan Empire. Historically it is known as the first empire which resemble's todays India. If I am not wrong, kashmir was well and truly part of it, infact Ashoka himself is credited as the founder of the city of Srinagar.

The second empire that comes to my mind that comes close to look like todays India was Akbar's India and Kashmir was indeed a part of it too. Infact, I might be wrong, there is a theory that Noor Jahan was from kashmir and she ruled India for sometime too.

The third empire that comes to my mind is British India, where kashmir was a sure part of it, infact the kashmir university was known as Prince of Wales university, if I am not wrong.

So, I am left wondering which historical India is she referring to when she makes her statements.

From: Aditya Aima

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://fewthoughtsfromaima.blogspot.com/2010/11/arundhati-roy-help-me-in-history.html' title='Arundhati Roy... The internal issues of India are much worse than the external threats. More than one third of the country, still referred to as Union of India by the Indian judicial system and not as Republic of India as it is in the Constitution of India, is really not united with the propagated concept of India as a nation. The cracks that appear on the political map of India in actuality are indeed cracks not only at the state level but also at the small district level.
On this day when people are celebrating Maharashtra Day and Gujarat Day, the state reorganization committee that decided to reorganize the country on the lines of ‘one state one language’ might have laid the seeds of the complete balkanization of the country. But one needs to ponder on why did people of Maharashtra wanted a state of their own or why do people of Kashmir and other North Eastern states want to separate from this Union of India or why is there Naxalite movement that covers a large portion of the country and why was there Khalistan Movement in Punjab.
Another thing to really thing about is why these voices of separatism are not coming from the belt of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and adjoining regions. The name Bharat after King Bharata (whose empire according to the Mahabharata covered all of the Indian subcontinent, Bactria, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kirgizstan, Turkmenistan, and Persia), or the name India that collectively referred to the land across the river Indus or the name Hindustan referred to by the Mugal empire that ruled the larger parts of the country when British replaced them are the only things that seem to unite these lands.
The present day problems of the country seem to lay in the fact that after independence from the British Raj the national politics has dominated by the above mentioned belt, which tried to impose their view of Republic of India to the rest of the regions that had signed to be part of the Union. Right from the language that they tried to impose Hindi a regional language of the northern belt excluding Punjab, Himachal, J&K to the rest of the Country as a national language. We need to view this fact from the millions of Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, Malayalam, Assamese, Bengali, Odisi, Gujarati, Marathi and other well developed and advanced language speakers to shun their tongue as secondary. Today we are seeing the result of this mistake where every other state does its official work in its own language. A neutral language like English could have been easily adopted which are eventually doing today.
Again looking at the cause of dissent among people of Maharashtra, J&K (within J&K between the people of Kashmir and Jammu), Southern States, North Eastern States, and Naxals all over the place stems from the lopsided power structure at the centre. Congress that has ruled for the most of the period after independence has had the main power center in the Hindi Belt as it is called, with its pegs in all the states which it could easily pull. This has left the voices of people from weaker states and regions unheard as they lacked the strength to have any effect on the central power structure. This is proved by the eruption of popular regional parties replacing the congress everywhere. Even the statements of congress leaders prove this when they say that congress cannot come to power at centre on its own unless it comes to power in U.P. (undivided).
Today we might say that the unrest in Kashmir is Islamic terrorism and in Punjab was Sikh terrorism and their cause of dissent was difference of religion with the majority religion but who are Naxals and what is their cause. The problem in Kashmir, North East and Naxal hit belt is due to neglect of the lopsided Central Government. The people from these areas remained unattended and unheard as they didn’t have strength enough to influence the power at the centre. They had to take the support of the gun and cause bigger sounds because their protest marches and voices went unseen and unheard. The people at the centre didn’t even bother. The situation in Kashmir took a wrong turn when Non-Muslim Kashmiri became the target of the Militants, especially Kashmiri Pandits. A political struggle got confused with religious one. But the fact still remains the Kashmiri (including Pandits) who could, tried and settled outside Kashmir as there were no opportunities there. The situation in North East was worse as people from these areas are misfit in any area of the country. The Sikh farmers despite of green revolution remained poor. The Naxals hit areas were unrepresented, where as areas of North East and J&K were given token representation. The bigger states like Maharashtra (whose protest marches were heard and Maharashtra was created) and Tamil Nadu could fight this off, unlike Orissa which still remains on the wrong side of development; West Bengal looked towards the Red Brigade were as J&K and North East looked towards gun.
Still within the states the power sharing remained lopsided and so did the attention. Uttrakhand, Chattisgardh, Jarkhand and now Telangana are result of this. Had the national politics not been blinded by parliament chairs they would have seen that national integration that is being taught in the school books is not possible by just sending armies but by ensuring that the basics of democracy are followed where even those not part of the majority fell they are part of the majority. Till then the Union of India remains a Union just on Maps and on cricket fields.
The face of the national politics needs to be changed each and every corner needs to have power that can have influence to the Government of India. The Government of India Should truly be a Government of India rather than Government of union of India and Associated states. The people need to be become homogeneous with superficial differences rather than superficial unity and deeper differences. He day when North Indians don’t call every south Indian Madrasi and rest of the country don’t call North Eastern Indian a Nepali the Idea of National Integration will remain on school books and balkanization of the country along the fault lines that are actually visible on the map can indeed become a reality.

By: Aditya Aima

ENRON ~ The Greek Tragedy

The story of ENRON is like a Greek tragedy, that was doomed to be a disaster from the very onset.

The tragedy brought on by the protagonists in this story on themselves had seeds in the actions they took while they were falling prey to their perpetual greed.

The people like Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling who started out like heroes to the business world and investors, had become villains for thousands of American public including ENRON investors and employees.

As corporate heads they might have made millions of dollars but somewhere along the line, the so called "smartest guys in the room" failed to follow the basics of business ethics and corporate governance.

As leaders, when they should have put forward a corporate vision that incorporated some value system, all they ever talked about was earning more money. Following their lead, all the ENRON traders ever wanted to do was to keep bringing in more and more money, come what may.

Mistakes were committed, to hide those mistakes, cheating was done, to hide one cheating another was done and so on, till it all came upon them crashing. Like a classic tragedy, all the people whether good or bad became contributers to the eventual downfall of a company that was once seen as the future of energy.

It's a classic case of corporate mis-governance, where all those who were supposed to be responsible institutions and businessmen, were blinded by the shine of freshly minted money. These big names included some of the biggest banks, America's oldest accounting firm, Arthur Anderson, reputed stock analysts. All of them could see something was wrong, but none of them cared about anything as long as the money was pouring in.

The people at the helm, that included Mr. Lay , Mr. Skilling and CFO Andy Fastow, who thought that they could control everything, eventually lost control to the thousands of traders they had trained like horses on the race course, with blinkers around their eyes they could only see what they were told to, i.e. "dollars". They didn't see what they were doing could lead the company to an abyss. They were exploiting all the loopholes in the rules and regulations. They were so irrational that they acted on their own will, knowing that their corporate heads were happy and good about everything as long as they earned money for the company.

While traders were doing their job, their heads were using all the tricks in the accounting books to show fictional profits to keep their stock prices rising even when the company was in big debt. They were paying themselves big bonuses based on the fact that somehow profits will come from their false future projections.

But, in fact they had been axing down the tree they had grown, while at the same time decorating it with false fruits that never seemed to wither away.

However, there was only one problem.....

The tree fell and the fruits were useless....

REPUBLIC we stand...

The day began with a frantic call from my friend who had to spend the whole night in the college lab because we had forgot to take the keys before deciding to stay up late in the lab.

I was with him till 3 a.m. before I told him that it was his decision to stay, even after everyone had left the lab and so, I was going to go to the room and sleep now.

After waking up, I still had to decide whether I would be attending the Flag Hoisting ceremony in the campus or not. But then, I had a sudden breeze of patriotism blown, by one of the nationalistic fans that had been installed inside me while i was growing up in our highly patriotic nation, through me and I decided to attend it.

While listening to the speakers at the event I got some food for thought when one of the speakers mentioned meeting some freedom fighters last year at some event. I wondered who the freedom fighters were and how many of such freedom fighters are there in every corner of India. While the speaker was using words such as great, e.t.c... I wondered how it would have been for these people back then when they must have been of our age.

They were like us, ordinary people and many of them would have just have been a part of some rally somewhere. So, what made them great ?

It was their participation in a great event called India's Freedom Struggle, how so ever small it would have been, it was significant. Each and every person in that rally headed by Gandhi made significance as it is these people who made the rally.

Today, when we append words such as great to all these people making them godlike, not accepting the facts that they were human and had all the flaws that we have, and hence, we are doing a disservice to them. We are creating a deterrent for those young souls who can emulate then, by telling them that they were as great as god, god without flaws.

Nothing can be far from truth. They were like us. We can make a difference like they did. We can Vote.

In fact I can say, they didn't fight for 15th august but 26th January. We had always been ruled or dominated by someone, be it Afghans, Turks, British, Portuguese, etc... So, what makes 15th August significant that it was freedom from British. I would say No. It was significant because three years later we could celebrate 26th January, a day where we stopped being ruled by someone and became self ruled.

Today we need to remember what this day means to us. This is the day that gives us true freedom. Celebrate it, Honor it and Sustain it. Lets play our small significant role in India Big rally, India's Democratic Elections.

They were same as us. They walked till Dandi we need to walk till Election Booths. Be small but be significant. Be a Democratic Indian.

Basic Instincts 2 !!!

(read the previous post first)

Hmmmm, two basic instincts...

but every other animal on this planet has these, so, what happened to us in the timeline, that made us grow into a super species.

Today we almost rule this planet. So, was there any third basic instinct that has lead us towards such complexties, as religion and science.

Its our instinct to seek answers.

The desire to know more.

I hope you got your answer,, :D

Basic Instincts : What comes after that..!

Basic Instinct…..the first thing that comes to our mind is Sharon Stone. But what are Basic Instincts for any life form! And how many basic instincts are there? I tried to find out the answer for the first question on search engines, asked few friends and got various answers. But all agree on one thing that all life form on earth, be it a bacteria or a complex cell form, be it an animal or a plant, a human or a beast, we all are controlled by self-preservation and urge for procreation.

Self preservation can be as simple as the urge to eat food to as complex activity as to form alliances for mutual benefits. In simpler terms, it’s our will to live, to protect ourselves and guard ourselves from getting hurt. As the complexities of organisms increase so does their self preservation activities. From a simple physical self preservation of plants and animals, to much more complex emotional self preservation of humans in addition to their physical self preservation, it can take different forms.

The second basic instinct is that of procreation. Simply put: reproduction. Each and every species on this planet is in a race to bring another of its kind into the world. This instinct is so legendary that I need not spend more bytes on it.

Almost each and everything we do is governed by these two basic instincts.

So, the answer to the second question, that asked how many basic instincts are there, could be two.

to be cont....

Part 2
